形態特徵

A medium-sized or large tree, up to 6 m high; branchlets glabrous.
Leaves simple, alternate, paler to green above, grayish-green beneath, oblong-ovate or oblong-elliptic, 4.5–15 cm long, 3–8 cm broad, coriaceous to subcoriaceous, lateral veins 5–10 on each side, conspicuously raised beneath, the apex round or obtuse, the base cordate, subordate or round, sometimes slightly oblique, entire; petiole 4–8 mm long; stipules triangular, persistent.
Flowers axillary, in umbel, peduncle variable, 2–11 mm long, sometimes clustered. Staminate flowers: sepals 6, biseriate, spreading, yellow or yellow-green; stamens 5–6, filaments connate into a column; pistillode absent or very minute between the anthers; disc lack; pedicels long, slender, 5–10 (14) mm long. Pistillate flowers: sepals 6, biseriate, not spreading, green; styles short, obtusely angled, not protruding beyond the sepals, shallowly 12–18-sulcate, ovary 5–8-celled, glabrous; pedicels 3–6 mm long in fruit.
Capsule brown to black, depressed-globose, glabrous, 6–10 mm across, not lobed. Seeds red, hemispheroid.

台灣 : Widespread in Taiwan, common in the northern and central parts.
世界 : India, Ceylon, southern China, the Ryukyus and Japan.
